What is this on the bow of this yacht?

I was having dinner with the wife in Edgartown the other night and there was there yacht tided up to the dock and it had the strangest thing mounted on the bow... I have never seen this, so I took a photo with my cell phone...it was dark and far away so the photo is not that great but you can still see the "thing" with the hoops around it.
what do you think? |
What's that thing from the Delorean in "Back to the Future"?
Oh, yeah, it's the yachting version of a "flux-capacitor", which allows people in yachts to have the ability to feel more superior to those that can't afford a yacht. :rotf2: I would guess either a "new-fangled" satellite dish receptor or a radio antennae setup for long voyages. |
its "art"

I think it has something to do With navigation lights. I remember reading the same question a while ago. I will try to dig it up...
Update. it's a forward steaming light. |
