Holy crap

We took my 6yr old Grandaughter to the movies yesterday.
$13 each for adults, big 1$ off for children, came to $38 for a
90 minute movie. Add a small pop corn and drink for her, $9.
$47 for a freekin movie, who can afford that? :smash:

Where are the Gov't Regulations when you need them. LOL

BigFish 09-25-2011 11:45 AM

Its a free enterprise market Dave! You have the choice to go or not to go? You want more Govt. regulation you will be living with less freedom in my opinion! Hey if they are not going to regulate the price of fuel????

BigFish 09-25-2011 11:51 AM

Forgot to add I agree as far as the price of a movie goes Dave...ridiculous! I find it hard to believe in this economy with money being tight for all that businesses continue to raise prices given that folks can't afford it or are simply cutting out things like the movies because money is tight??? I understand the "need" to raise prices from a business standpoint but I think they will chase away more business than they will lure in?? Rather have 50 people in the theatre at $6.00 a ticket than have 25 people in there at $8.00 a ticket??? More people hitting the concession stand?? And the prices at the concession stand are where the outrage should be directed!!!

Agreed, dinner and a movie for family of 3 now about $120.00. Forget about a major sporting event. We used to go to fenway or foxboro but they have priced me out of going. Plain and simple 80.00 (if you can actually pay face value, forget the legal scalpers like ace ticket ), parking and food will cost about $300.00 to attend...No way I can swing that anymore.

I'd wager the theaters have to raise prices to compete with the availability of online movies taking away some of their business. The overhead to own and operate the theater is sunk and they probably have few variable costs.

Sox games aren't terrible if you can get decent tickets. We bought roof seats for 50 dollars face value that were good, and if you want to walk a little you can park around Fenway for a reasonable price.

Pats? I've done my one game for a few years...now that was expensive.

P Bruins games at the Dunk or Pawsox are a great deal. Not sure the kids know the difference anyway...

I had one microbrew at a Pat's exhibition game, and that set me back $11.00. I should have asked the price before ordering.

Larry, the Gov't regulation remark was a joke. :hihi:
No one wants to keep the Govt out of their life more than me.
Having them involved in transportation and defense is enough for me. :D

Movies?
Check to see if the theater has a matinee showing, which is usually chaeper. Also check to see if there is a "dinner/movie house".
(That's the best description I could come up with.) It's a restaurant that shows movies. They're usually cheaper admission prices and food is moderately priced, and better selections too!

Sports?
Try the minor league teams. We saw Pawsox, Seadogs and Spinners for a fraction of a RedSox ticket, and consession prices aren't too bad either.
Maybe check out a college or high school game as well?

Good points FT.
You can't beat HS football, it's the only pure football left.

High school games are not free !

$12 a head to go to our local games. My kids a junior on the team. Getting sick of paying through the ass on everything lately. And they'
're having a town vote today to spend $4 million dollars on a astroturf field at the the new high school....because they sleazed the vote through on the hs....and nicely left out that there was no fields....that's how they kept the dollar amount low and got approval. azzholios.

You pay to get into the games AFTER paying an "after school" activity fee to let the kid play the sport in some towns.

Ride a wheelchair into the Red Sox games and you get a pretty good view from the handicap section. Just don't forget, and stand up and cheer or anything.

justplugit 09-27-2011 07:20 PM

LOL uze guys are too funnie. :grins:

The only good thing about astro turf is it keeps the geese and their
poop off the field.

It's not a one time expense either, requires alot of maitenance.

Can't beat a grass field, that's what washing machines were invented for.
