Developing Story

From what I have been told OTW has decided to "reneg" their decision to let Greg Myersons fish count towards Team Stripers total. This despite the fact that Myerson still has an e-mail from OTW granting permission to make the same type of move it had granted many times over. This despite the fact that the publisher calls Team Striper Gregs team in his letter from the publisher on the 3rd page of the September edition. This despite the fact OTW defended their decision to allow Greg to join a team on their facebook page. I wonder what pressures from the outside caused OTW to change their mind.Kudos to OTW for their integrity in this matter.

Sounds like that tournament has officially jumped the shark.

There's a saying about a monkey doing something with a football that seems to apply here.

Chris:

My guess is they read through your "get some sleep" thread and were heavily influenced by the opinions of an anonymous but mighty few...:musc:

You're no longer an internet hero, but an internet icon...:buds:

If I caught the world record striped bass the last thing I would give a damn about is a tournament, a magazine, a team or the prizes. Am I missing something here?

BigFish 09-28-2011 10:18 AM

I caught a 68 pounder the other night and was afraid to mention it to anyone! Good time though!!!:uhuh:

Larry that fish was 67 1/2 , lets not round up, this is an honor system after all.

The value people put on money and fame. Consider the tours the guy who "caught" a BFT from his kayak did. He was whoring himself out to everyone.

Whoring is a strong word. In fact most of those who would
use such a descriptor are usually jealous and inferior types.
Stick that up your saxatilis roccus.

:rotf2: There's no jealousy here - certainly inferior though and I wouldn't argue otherwise. Quite honestly, if I caught a record fish or landed a tuna from kayak like that guy, I'd leverage the opportunity as much as possible just like the above mentioned guys have. 15 minutes of fame can be very profitable if utilized correctly.
