Van Staal & Accurate Reels

So trying to decide which pair of reels to go with for Bass and Tuna.

So thinking of the VM150 & VS250 or the Accurate SR-12 & SR-30.

Which one pair would you go with. Im leaning with the Van Staal just incase I decide to surf Cast..

I don't know anything about the Accurate Reels but have owned 2 VS reels. 200 & 250. I have several problems with both. It seems that some of the guys on the site swear by them. Others have had problems and need service on them. For a $700 reels I think they should hold up better than they do. I went back to Penns. I fish the SS series and never have an issue. It would seem that the big SS 850 and 950 would serve you well. For under $200 each, you can't go wrong. JMO.

I would go with the 275 for tuna. The only thing I know about Accurate spinning reels, is that the one guy I know who owned two of them, had major issues with both.

I would look at a 14000 or 18000 Stella SW as an alternative to the VS, not the Accurates.

250 or 275 for tuna. Mike is right, the higher retrieve speed of the 275 is great for burning a lure right by an angry tunas face.

The VM seems like a great boat reel/light surf setup. But I've heard of bad things happening when it goes for a swim. If you don't wetsuit or would primarily be fishing from the boat I bet it would serve you well.

Yes i am thinking of the 250 or 275 for tuna. and using the VM for boat..
