another great quote of why boat fish dont count :rotf2:

“In a boat, it’s easy,” Mr. Fellini said. “You see the fish, and you steer right over them and drop your line in, and you got a fish.”

Got to get me one of them "$1,000 rods" and "rugged wetsuit made for kayakers"

Actually not a bad article. Captures the excitement.

When you are there -Montauk Blitzes always happened yesterday.

Great article. On my bucket list. I have never fished Montauk in 43 years of doing this.

Why start now... you are on your own for that madness!

I've heard from some guys that it's fun to just sit in your truck there and watch everybody trying to fish in that madness...

Remember there was a fishing show back on ESPN about Montauk guides? It was basically just guys chasing blitzes around and they couldn't catch a bass! They would try for them and end up with albies.. boo hoo...

I fished there one weekend a few years back, I went in the day time to check it out it was elbow to elbow, I went back at night and the place was baron I didn't see another sole all night this was in November

"The thrill comes from outsmarting the bass and finally experiencing that adrenaline-pumping moment when the striper hits your lure..."

Yup, that pretty well explains what makes the cash outlay, wetness, shivering, skunk frustration, and general hassle all worthwhile, at least for me!

“To get on the tackle-shop wall, you got to catch a 40-pounder,”

This is the part I never really get. It does however underscore the draw that makes so many need to keep a big bass. Human nature, I guess.

If you're prepared, there's no reason a big fish can't be photographed and released. People have to realize that you don't have to kill them to get your picture on the tackle shop wall.
