Blues,pogies,squid?!

Apparantly all three are in.Squid I'm sure of,the oriental folks have invaded the local squid spots.
I can trust the person who said he caught a small blue and spotted some pogies.
So I guess that means the season is about to crank up.Yea!!!

bloocrab 05-04-2003 11:36 AM

hey....buzz-erd, are the Gull - ables in?

mooncusser 05-04-2003 07:44 PM

Typically the big blues 7-14# (all head) are the first to arrive, followed by the smaller guys a month or so later.

macojoe 05-04-2003 11:57 PM

Haven't heard of any squid, pogies, or Blues here yet :crying: But thats ok, I am about a week from getting the boat in the water.
But it sure is good news!!

Buzz-erd 05-05-2003 11:55 AM

Gull-ables.Pretty snappy there chief.Have about 4lbs FRESH squid in the freezer right now,Got 2 blues on squid lastnite and
just bought my first pogies of the season right off the boat in Newport.

Hey Buzz,

Appreciate your enthusiasm...you might want to ponder on the locations your talking about in some of your posts. Many places hold only so many people....and it's only a matter of time before your spots are full of people. Don't beleive me.....keep posting and get back to me in a month.....they will all look like Stone Bridge.

Buzz-erd 05-05-2003 02:36 PM

Tattoo,
ALL the places I've talked about were invaded LONGGGGG before
either you or I were born and I ain't young.Don't sweat it.

The squid are in Nantucket Sound. I wouldn't doubt that blues have arrived too. Generally, the first blues hold deep and won't come up for a surface plug. They'll be there for over a week before the surfcasters get a shot at them. Most people don't even know they are in yet. They were around third week in april last year. I'd expect this year that they arrive any day now if they aren't there already. On the cape, you can expect them 2-3 days after the squid trawlers appear in the sound.

:zup: ...what do I know??....I don't even fish much. Buzzard, I wasn't trying to discredit your post...although my sarcasm made it seem that way. My apologies -

In NO way reflecting your post,...but, ...- some guys tell stories, some guys believe guys that tell stories, some guys believe guys that tell other guys that tell guys that believe stories....

I'm none of the above :) ...I only believe I got hit over the head, after the lump develops.

...however, there are exceptions :D

Buzz-erd 05-05-2003 04:39 PM

Bloocrab,
Generally I'd BELIEVE YOU,but your reply to Addict sealed it for me.
Credibility is everything.
