Schoolie Combo?
 

I am putting together the following schoolie / light surf outfit for jetties and beaches just wondering what you all think?????

St Croix 8' Ben Duerr 9-17lb spinning rod, and a Penn 460 slammer, 30lb fireline....

Very nice....I go with lighter FireLine (12 pound).....I like it light though.....lots of fun...

sounds good, but I would also go with a lighter line. Lighter line equals longer casts.

30# Fireline has equivalent diameter to 20# mono, despite what the label claims. You're not going to get a lot of it on a 460. I'd try 14# or 20# instead.

If it were me the Penn would be replaced with a new Stratic 5000 spooled with Power Pro if braid is a must.
