I got a small fish the other night with a yellow tag. It's hard to read even with a magnifier, but it seems to be from Littoral soc. Highlands NJ. Ring a bell with anyone.

New Jersey Striped Bass Tagging Team Saves a Surfcaster, Tags Record Number of Bass

On Island Beach, N.J. this past weekend, anglers tagged and released a record 347 striped bass as part of an outing by the Berkley Striper Club. But the best catch might have been a human.

A surfcaster, who was not a member of the club, lost his footing and was about to be swept away when an angler made a cast and stopped him before he was headed for Portugal, according to NJ.com.

The club has an ongoing tagging program that helps them contribute data for the purpose of studying striper migration. If you're in Jersey, you can learn more about it here. - Rick Bach
