HDTV anntenas

so i've had enough of verizion fios. customer service is terrible and i have to call every month to get my bill squared away. i want terminate my contract and go with another provider for internet only.

i've heard of the HDTV antennas that you can get channels 4,5,7. does anyone have them and do they actually work? was thinking of apple TV, but you have to pay for all the shows on that.

My Brother in law made one out of 2x4 and wire hangers...calls it his redneck antenna....works perfect for picking up HD on the local channels though.

Funny looking as all hell

It's a digital antenna. Basically no different than the old school rabbit ears except they interpret a digital signal that broadcasts over the airwaves, as opposed to an analog signal. It looks like crap but if you don't watch tv much, it may suffice.

If you do get rid of cable, take a look at hulu.com and Hulu Plus. They have pretty much every tv show available the day after it broadcasts.

For a different opinion I've read that OTA HDTV signal is actually some of the best - and from the times I've watched TV's getting their signal from an HD antenna I can't really argue it.

With your background, you're the only one allowed to argue semantics. :jump1: Yes, they don't interpret anything. The converter box attached to the antenna is what actually converts the digital signal received by the antenna into an image and audio that your tv can utilize.

Some TVs sold today have a digital tuner installed in them.
