Heading to Cape cod 5-9-03

Hello

I am new to this board and I thought I would say hello. I am heading to the Cape this weekend to do a little fishing. I am still a novice, but am willing to take instruction. I am starting to get hooked on this stuff and am very interested in this board. The info I have been reading has been great. Would like to begin surfcasting but not sure where to go or what to use for stripers.
Any help would be great and I look forward to talking to you guys a lot. Thanks again.

Hey Tim,
Head to either South Cape beach on the cape or over to cotuit, (right next to south cape.) Most of the fish are small now and I have a lot of luck using soft plastics. Six inch sluggos or four inch finese fish in a lighter color rigged up on a small jig head work great. Use light line and try to find some current. If you head to South Cape beach, you can access a productive area by parking in the new seabury resort complex and hiking down the beach to the opening of popponesset bay. Herring push through there and the area holds schoolies as well as larger bass. If you park in the lott at south cape beach, then a hike to the right will put you at the mouth of waquiot bay, another very productive early season spot. The cape has some nice shore spots on the buzzards bay side as well but the water out around west falmouth and bourne is a couple degrees colder than water on the south side. I'd give the south cape beach area a try. goodluck!
