plug bag/belt set up question
 

was wondering if anyone here uses the clip method of keeping your bag secure to the belt?

ive always done the belt thru the loops on the back of the bag, but sometimes its a pain sliding the bag around to the side to change plugs, plus it still moves a little. i also use the shoulder strap to keep the weight off my waist.

was thinking about using the d rings on the back of the bag and securing them to d rings or weight keepers with a ss carbiners, then just un clipping the bag to change plugs or whatever.

i guess the best way would be to try it out for myself but wanted some real word feed back.

I like the clips on the bag attaching to a d-ring on my belt much better than the belt loops.

Just a shoulder strap bag for the last 40 years. Works fine for me.

Just remember anything you clip to yourself your gonna have to swim with someday. Lead heads an metal are great anchors. A shoulder strap can be dumped easier.

The belt loops on my bag are wrapped with this blue vinyl flexible tubing (hose) that is used for extending the gutter drain water away from the house. This primarily was to protect the web from wearing out but it also served the purpose to slide the bag around the waist a little easier.

The d rings sure look nice but seem to be a hassle to clip and unclip

Well stopped and got some ss carabiners and attempted to use the clip method.

Hated it, couldn't get the clips to work easily.

So after looking at the belt I just got done the excess from the belt which allows the bag to go further around.

Why I didn't try this earlier in the season I'll never know!!!

Swimming or wading neck deep with a bag floating all over the place is a huge pain in the ass.:uhuh:

Also, mounting to the belt in addition to the shoulder strap helps to place some of the bag's weight on your hips and less on your upper back.

I had a bag made with stainless steel rings on the back. These rings attach to clips on my belt. The bag can slide on the belt as needed. I have been beyond happy with this system. My back is MUCH less sore after a long night and the bag is always under control.

I like the sounds of that set up. I have tried to clip my bag to my belt to take weight off my shoulders and to avoid it flipping around when landing a fish. But im ADD big time when it comes to changing plugs so not having the ability to swing the bag easily sucks. Do you have a pic of your set up?

You can see how my 3 tube Commando is attached to my belt. I use the shoulder strap and clips together to evenly distribute the weight of the bag as well as secure it from moving while casting, swimming, etc... I can't feel any weight form the bag due to the distibution between my shoulder and belt and the bag will not move unless I want it to.

On the belt those are just quality carabiners that the rings snap into.

I like the straps. My bags have d-rings attached closely to the bag, not on the straps. THat gives it the mobility that i am looking for.

I keep my bag on my belt by using the belt loops on my plug bags (all commando). I use a police belt which is pretty stiff so the bags slide easily. I still keep the shoulder strap over my shoulder.

It's relatively easy to change bags...
