Iphone will not load data while syncing
 

Finally got around to upgrading to iOS5.01 on my iphone.

WHY WHY WHY did I do this?!

it says it syncs but no data from the calendar or contacts changes. All the setup stuff is turned ON

I have the icloud on and tried re-installing itunes.

If I can't get this working soon I will have to dump the iphone and move on to something else.


any suggestions on what to try next?
i0s5.01 with vista on pc

IOS 5 on what model? Regular iPhone 4?

I have not upgraded to IOS5 as once on 5 you cannot go back (jailbreak not withstanding).

That thread is mainly using google gmail and calender. I use ms outlook. I still don't understand this icloud thing and why I need it. Why can't I just sync to my machine...why do I want a middleman involved?

I am spending too much time on this. It will be cheaper for me just to buy a new phone soon and abandon apple. I Have come to the conclusion that just don't think in the apple mindset and have always found apple to touchy feely and weak on computational strength. Also the lack of playing flash is killing me.

I have 4 of these phones and I have to check to see if the rest of the crew is having the same problem or not. I have the oldest phone i3, everyone else has an i4.

Jim - is that a dog with IOS5 on a version 3?

It is a little slower but I would not call it a dog. I still can't get it to sync properly... what is weird is that it syncs and you can see holidays and even birthdays on the calendar...but no appointments.


Time to move on, I can not invest any more time with this.

The best thing about ios5 is that you can text using wifi when you are not near a cell signal. This is important for me because I rarely get a cell signal where I live. Up till now my cell phone never worked when I am at my house. At least I can text now. But the downside of not having appointments is a showstopper. I have been late now to a few meetings because of this already. :fury:

How old is your device Jim? Why not upgrade to a 4s?

I just saw johnR's post. If you have a 3, you really need to upgrade to a 4s. It's so fast

I my kids have a 4's me and the wife still have 3. Total 4 I phones (@$250/mo) I was kind of hoping to let all the contracts run their course and get off the apple band wagon...never was an apple fan. I really don't want to extend the contract any longer. The difference between 3 and 4 IMO is not enough to make me get one. And the speed is all that much faster...I have played with my kids phone. The phone was cool a few years ago but now it has lost its cache' and seems stale to me. There are better devices IMO.
