Aren't those sea herring?

Isn't there some daily limit?
Simply said in the most elementary of terms...these fish are what feed all the other fish in the sea, why can't "the experts" who make the regulations see this? Even if there is a quota, you need a daily limit so you don't wipe out an entire year class in one haul. 10000 ton??? that is mind boggling. utter waste of resourse...the result was $550/ton or 28 cents/# :yak5: |
Westportmafia, yes those are sea herring and its Alaska. The same thing goes on in Maine, except we don't have enough Herring to get sets like that. There was one million dollars worth of herring in that net. I can't understand how anyone doesn't see this as wrong .

That fishery according to the whole show on TV is one of the most highly regulated and managed fisheries??? D Gordon the gov agent sets the annual limits and opens/closes the season which may only last a few hours each season.
I like the Capt's words: "we may never see another catch like this". I wonder why!:smash: |
