Guess nature will mutate the virus for species-to-species fast/faster than lab?
Seeing Terror Risk, U.S. Asks Journals to Cut Flu Study Facts
In the experiments, conducted in the United States and the Netherlands, scientists created a highly transmissible form of a deadly bird flu virus A(H5N1) that does not normally spread from person to person. It was an ominous step, because easy transmission can lead the virus to spread all over the world. The work was done in ferrets, which are considered a good model for predicting what flu viruses will do in people.

Maybe they can modify/increase the transmission rate to seal-to-seal?:)

I'm not happy with that. I feel sorry for them. I rather they practiced abstinence.

In Springfield's paper it was stated that 1,600 seals had bit the bullet.

I believe the problem is occuring in the harbor seal population not the grey seals which are the real problem for shore fisherman.
