Looking for Some Well Made Wire Leaders

Where can I find some pre-made wire leaders that are well made, with a good clip ?

If you can't easily find what your looking for I can crimp some up to your specs.

make your own using the hay wire twist using your thumb and forefinger 10 -12 barrel wraps. do swivel first then the hook.

An old sharpie taught me how he does his. He twists the plastic coated wire and then melts the plastic with a lighter. he swears by this and actually sold this rig at his shop. Just choose what swivel and hook. I tested his method and was never able break or unravel the melted twist.

I think I've come up with a plan.

Step 1 -Cut off the old style clip from an existing wire leader without disturbing the crimped loop.

Then,
Plan A- Slip a breakaway clip onto the existing loop and spot tie it with mono to keep it secure.
Don't know if the mono is overkill.
Don't know if tactical angler clip would better suit the application.

Plan B - Slip a split ring onto the existing loop and then attach a breakaway clip to the ring.

Let me know what you think of these potential modifications.

crimp

I just crimp my own, many times I like shorter ones and its easy. I use coated wire and crimps made by the same company. I did a couple with snag hooks some with breakaways and a few sets with circle hooks. That gets me through the bluefish blitzes and choosen chunking sessions.

Make your own, they are very easy to do and you can make them to your own specs.

I like the clear wire leader material and the twist with the melting technique. Crimping is tricky business: not enough and it does not hold, too much and you severely compromise the breaking test of the wire. With no-stretch braided lines, wire leader failure from the swivel knot and the two crimps on the leader is where most of the failures occur. There's a lot that can go wrong with crimps.

I think I'm all set to try it the way I've explained in an earlier post, but if this should fail I will seriously consider your offer. Thanks very, very much for your consideration !!

Any problem with breakaways coming off of the wire loop ?
