This is a lami honey glass 1213m I built a while ago .. 1st of 2 rods I ever built . It has Dale Clemens rod epoxy on the wraps. I'm also trying to save the under wrap because I'm not sure they still make it or I can match it . I have 2 questions ,. I still have some old Dale Clemens rod epoxy .. Do you think I can still use it ? ,, and If not Do you think I can put the newer Flex Coat over the remnants of the Dale Clemens .. Thanks in advance ..

If it's the old Clemmens stuff throw it away. Most rod epoxies are only good for a couple yrs and some will still hold but yellow very badly. The old Gudebrod threads can still be found and a lot of them are still carried by many of the larger rod shops out west.you can find a good mix of epoxy rod finiah at Mudhole.com . hope this helps. Ed the thread is still made but only in size A. I will see if I have any left in the shop in D for you.
what SM said x2 on the epoxy.

I already re wrapped it leaving the underwrap and white threads on the end . I'm hoping the new epoxy sticks to the renants of the Clemens .. I just had a window to do it, so I did it . I put 2 coats of color preservative on there too ..

I would have stripped the old thread and rewrapped and refinished with modern thread finish. You'll probably be doing that guide again in a couple of years but it looks good now.

I use Aftcote and Ultra Gloss . both work well . you may find Flexcote easier to get locally either From Mike or another shop in your area. otherwise check out Mudhole.com .they have a good selection including small quantaties.Ron Oh by the way they all have to be rotated so get something else to keep you busy while doin it if you don't have a rotator. Beer helps LOL

For one guide you get the tiny one batch foil pack of Flexcoat. No measuring , cheap and easy to apply for just one guideSince you have just one guide , pot life doesn't matter and a faster cure like Flexcoat high build (not light) will mean it cures relatively quickly.

I saw some of those at both M&D an Red Top.
