Wind is howling at my house

I'll bet the wind is gusting to 50 mph at my house. Now I sailed for 3 decades and I know wind pretty well so I'm not making it up. The sustained winds may be 25 but the gusts are huge. I'm in a windy location but this is crazy.

Similar here, not that strong but it's honking at times. Impossible to keep the house warm in this wind.

I'm at about 90 foot elevation. That's not the Rocky Mountains but its one of the highest areas around Cumberland. Diamond Hill is about 15 feet higher but I'm up there and have valleys dropping down on both sides of me , one to almost sea level . So anyway , on certain days we get some real wind.

I'd say its died down a lot in the last couple of hours. maybe gusting to 35 now.

I am top of a hill in Burrillville RI. Topo says 710 feet. Yes, the wind is howling but I have the kitchen woodstove cranked and it's 70 degrees in the house.

i have a wind proof coat... :)

say out loud three times

the winds will diminish
the winds will diminish
the winds will diminish

then click your heels together

That whole part of RI is at a higher elevation. That's why they get more snow or actually snow when many places get rain. You could be at 600 feet in burrillville and be in a deep hole in the ground relative to your surroundings. :) But if you are on a hill relative to the surroundings , you got the same problem I have with windy days.
