First New Plugs for 2012

Made these 2 darters from some birch I bought up in Rowley MA a week ago. Used a template plug I got from an expert darter guy who likes to fish with his dog.

Had such good luck with parrot and off white last year that I had to go with that paint. Still need to fire up the airbrush I got from a friend last fall... maybe the next few will be airbrushed...

Unhappy with the bumpy finish as the result of sealing with 2 ton epoxy instead of the tried and true soak sealing... Think I am going back to the PVC soak tube for next plugs.

those look nice.... nice fade on the plane...
I love birch.. you just have to seal it well...

I did read that article in the current SJ about colors... I guess the fancy paint jobs catch more fisherman than fish... it is true that most baitfish have whitish bellies for sure
