Plans for Super Bowl
What's wrong with the NFL? I don't understand why they don't move the game to a Saturday... and if they can't do that, why not move up the kick off time? A 6:30 start means 11:30 wrap up.
That said; I decided to change things up this year. We will go to neighbors house for pre game only. Then home by ourselves (immediate family only) to watch the game or the commercials, whatever your preference is. A good meal as opposed to grazing through the party snacks.(Bruschettas and baked crab stuffed cod) I know that I miss too much when I have been at Super Bowl parties and am making it a family only during the game. So what are your plans? |
I was invited to go to a pub in Boston, but we would need a sitter, and it is so much easier to roll into bed when you are already home and have to work the next day. So like you I thin I will watch it on my 52 at home ;)
|
Been invited to several bashes but I will be watching it by myself in a dark room where I can swear and scream and change the channel during real pivotal nail biting plays. I can't watch field goals and such when so much is on the line so I change to something else for a few seconds and then go back to see results. Stupid I know but that is what works for me. Go Pats.

Absolutely agree about watching the game in a smaller setting. I have been to Superbowl "parties" where it is a struggle to hear or follow the game due to the card games, kids running around and general disinterest in the game itself, regardless of who is playing. It will be just a few family members joining my wife and I and they all know how loud the TV will be throughout the game. Will likely do a nice dinner pre-game too, homemade sauce, meatballs and bista. Will have all the snackage too, chips/dips, bacon-wrapped shrimp, taco-salad etc... Will also DVR the game to go through it again afterward alone... Go PATS! |
A 3 oclock start would be even better. Anyway , for the same reasons as Ross , I'm likely not going anywhere. can't be drivng home at 11 after having a few so I suppose I'll stay home. For some reason I thought they were moving the time up some this year but i guess I was wrong. They got to cater to the west coast crowd but you would think a 12 oclock start for them (3 for us) would be late enough for them?
|
I would like to see a 5 o'clock start. I get up at 3:45 every day, so if the pats are not playing i usually call it a night at half time.

Hay BM... you are invited to my house iffin you want to watch the game!:) |
i will be at home watching the game with my new fiance.
|
Congrats Craig!
|
The Bro-in-Laws will be at my house for the game.
I would like to see a 3 0'clock start to the game myself.....or just move it to Saturday. Loved the Saturday Play-off game against the Broncos this year |
I totally agree with an earlier start. i always wondered why they didn't change it.
I remember the last time the Patriots played the Giants in the Superbowl. I was in Iraq and that time zone is 8 hours ahead. If i remember correctly the game started at 2:30am, and there is no calling in sick the next day. This year I am just going to stay home. |
I like to watch the SB from my own home....I'm not big on crowds... I get enough of that when I go to the stadium...we may have a few of the neighbors over if they can put up with my wifes language when things don't go exactly as planned..
Food will be fish stew... shrimp... snow crab claws and seafood stuffed portabello mushrooms... |
Usually I'd be going to a friend's place. I enjoy watching Pats games with a group of fans. Unfortunately this year, I fly into Las Vegas Superbowl morning for work. There's a decent sports bar in New York New York, but I'll probably end up watching the game in my hotel room.
They don't move up the start time because the whole country isn't on EST. Removing an inconvenience for one timezone isn't worth the lost advertising revenue of having the game start at noon on the West Coast. |
staying home. i actually like the start time because my daughter goes to bed at 7, so I'll be able to really watch the game instead of just have it on.
|
if during the regular season a west coast game starts at 4 EST why can't the superbowl.....the NFL is ALWAYS concerned about lost ad revenue.
and it doesn't seem to matter that the 1 PM EST games are starting at 10:00AM on the West Coast during the season. and if AD time is that big of a concern....why not Saturday Night then....bet you would get more people to watch it then |
Delaying my ride back to NYC so I can see the game or at least part of it. The Acela leaves RTE 128 at 525 am Monday
|
Home with wife and kid. I'll probably order a pizza because the wife doesn't cook anymore.

Watching it at home with my gf. If it's decent weather, I like to do some burning that day for my pregame activity. I have a great schedule for football season. My days off are Monday and Tuesday; for the night shift that means Sunday night and Monday night. :)
I like watching it at home, where the clicker will be in my hands and I can help choose the menu. Occasionally we find ourselves elsewhere. For the last Pats SB win we were visiting my parents in FL and it so happened that another couple from work that we hang out with were staying in Orlando so we drove over there from north of Tampa where my parents stay. We went into Universal Studios to find a place to watch the game. When we walked by Margaritaville they were setting up a big screen outside on the deck. We luckily grabbed ourselves a table with a great view of the screen, and were joined by some other Pats fans we didn't know. At the end of the first quarter, the scores matched the numbers on our little grid square that we payed 100 bux for. The Pats went on to win. Needless to say, it was a pretty fun night. |
I got tickets to the NFL Experience thanks to Tysdad :D Thanks again Andy :btu:
gonna have to sneak in to the Maxim party somehow while smuggling in a camera :hidin: |
Hey, those are VIP tickets ! Maybe you could wave them around and people will automatically assume your cool.. glad to help out, but if they don't win it's your fault for going..you know that right?
|
don't put any pressure on me, I don't wear a uniform. I won't even pick out Bill's hoodie........
|
Bruce, I would suggest dressing at the high end of business casual, with a sport coat.... better chance of maybe scoring getting in some of those places/parties. Hell, with your size, you should just be signing your autograph as a former player (on a small market team....)
|
Have always watched it with the wife and kids - kinda a ritual. It was cool when they were all little on the couch and I would yell out "That's another Patriots" and they would all hit the floor and yell "FIRST DOWN!". It doesn't get any better than that. I guess I am just a home-body at heart - which I guess isn't a terrible thing. GO PATS!
