Sinus surgery

Hey guys, just recieved word that I am going to need sinus surgery, I have had sinus issues in what has seemed like forever.

I was reading some threads in here that date back to 07, and have scared the crap out of myself. Has anyone had it recently and what was the recovery like?

I'm really not looking forward to this.

Not sure if its the same as your situation but I had surgery for a deviated septum and a few other procedures because I couldnt breath through my nose, causing severe sleep apnea. Couldnt breathe at all through right side left side was mostly blocked as well. After the surgery I cant breathe at all through my left side, and the right is barely capable of getting air in or out ...wish I didnt do it at all.

I guess, I have a really severe polyp completely blocking the right side, and all my sinus aren't really draining at all, so they need to clean it all out and fix a few other things, I already can't smell anything, and feel like i'm underwater most of the time, so I'm hoping that this helps.

JD good luck with it. Sounds like it is very necessary.

I had the same exact situation back in 98 or so - head cold that wouldnt go away, kept getting worse tons of meds for more than a month then after a couple visits to ENT - he said its time to clean you out or the pressure will permantly effect your hearing. Its a wierd thing and the amount of guaze they pack in there is insane. While they were in there they found polyps as well and I had them removed. I was a new man after that. I might have been one of those posts you read. Things might have changed procedurally though since then. Recovery was uncomfortable for a couple days for sure and taking out the gauze was very unpleasant but overall I was very glad I did it looking back now. Feel free to PM me - I can give you a ring if you want to discuss.
