They must be running already. I've not seen one but today a woman I work with told me she had some for dinner yesterday. She is a Mashpee Indian, a fisherman, and a reliable source.

God dam, if she can eat herring for dinner she is truly qualified to be a native amercian. Takes courage that does.

I wouldn't doubt it,this winter never really flourished into it's normal potential,wouldn't surprise me if we heard spring peepers within a week or two.

this is true,herring are in the nemasket river,i couldnt belive my eyes they are slow moving and sparse mostly to the begining of the ladder on south main st,going to have a look at the rt 44 ladder tomorrow

Cool. I have seen them there this time of year before. I'll have to look for myself this week on way home from work.

nice to hear about middleboro but not really surprising...my earliest sighting was feb 15 circa 1999, and that winter wasn't as warm as this one...

so about how maney more weeks till we see bass?

I start in about three when the holdies start to get active with the increase in water temps coupled with bait. Freshies I'd say about 6-7 more weeks depnding where you fish.

Bass are starting to get active in some rivers here in Ct.
It's about the water temps and of course the bait.

The way RoyL is going there isn't going to be any left for any of us.....

Main contributing factor is daylight! Bass are Photo-tropic. The more daylight there is, the more active they get. The less daylight there is the more lethargic they get.

I agree re: Phototrophic during migrations.
I think hold-overs it's temperature driven.....

Any day now they should start showing up in CT places. In year past I've seen them as early as the 10th of March. Once that happends the fun begins.
