Herring Report
They must be running already. I've not seen one but today a woman I work with told me she had some for dinner yesterday. She is a Mashpee Indian, a fisherman, and a reliable source.
God dam, if she can eat herring for dinner she is truly qualified to be a native amercian. Takes courage that does.
I also heard that there were scouts in some of the runs
I wouldn't doubt it,this winter never really flourished into it's normal potential, wouldn't surprise me if we heard spring peepers within a week or two.
i am going down the street to see ,going to to right back
this is true, herring are in the nemasket river,i couldnt belive my eyes they are slow moving and sparse mostly to the begining of the ladder on south main st,going to have a look at the rt 44 ladder tomorrow

nice to hear about middleboro but not really surprising...my earliest sighting was feb 15 circa 1999, and that winter wasn't as warm as this one...

I agree re: Phototrophic during migrations. I think hold-overs it's temperature driven..... |
Any day now they should start showing up in CT places. In year past I've seen them as early as the 10th of March. Once that happends the fun begins.
