Ice went out of my pond yesterday. No peepers yet but crocus, tulips and daffies are up.

Saw a frog in the road while I was out running last night. Then, when I was getting home around 1:30 am, the wood frogs and coyotes were making a racket.

Got 'em in NK too.

Did anyone see the Boston channel 7 weather? 70's most of the week! Yayyyy! Snowblower went away today!!

Snowed last nite, no peepers here yet

Noticed the first worm piles in the yard yesterday, won't be long now..

Nice weather coming in guys and gals.

Heard-em Thursday night,not full blown but you'd hear one or two peepin then silence, then a few more would jump in a few yards away,then it was back and forth.
Soon enough boy's it'll be on!

can you guys restate the rule of thumb reguarding peepers again please? I kno there's a time frame now that has begun. I love the old-timer knowledge and sayings when it comes to fishing

I don't know the rule on peeper but here's couple:

When the oak leaves are as big as a squirrels ear, the bass are here. Dandelions in bloom the tautog are biting. There is also something about lilacs but I have forgotten that one.

When the lilacs bloom, the wife will make you get a hotel room. ;)

When the Dogwoods flower its time for Blackfish and my favorite(from Block Island) When the Shadbushes are in bloom its time for big Striped Bass.

Heard them the other day, early.

I thought there was a time table attached to the first week or day of peepers related to striped ones, no? or is everyone just that anxious for it to be warm again that they like to say: "check it out, frogs dood, spring is here" lol?

the only I know: the one that smelled it, must surely have dealt it

THAT!! Blows my mind,and even though I don't write this stuff down,and if memory serves....the earliest I ever saw them bloom was around the 2nd week of May out at the island.I've never seen them on the mainland.

inland , you'll hear-em like that....then their little breeding ponds
typically skim ice over once more... then upon melting it's full chorus!

i listen also to the bird songs and how they change,
the robin's song in particular ....they have a morning song
and a goodbye to the day song instead of a nervous chirp chirp chirp

officially for me...... announce the arrival of spring

the forecast shows no dippin below 32 for now
and that's a very good sign.
