Help needed (hypothetically)
 

Say I had a coyote or even a bird head, and I am not saying I do, whats a good way to get the hair/feathers and meat off/out so that I would just be left with the skull?

I've used the "Simmering" method for many years on all of my deer skulls. This is followed by several bleach rub downs the same night. They are mounted on homemade ash plaques and hung on the wall the following day. IMHO the quickest and least messy method.

After you boil it you could try a pressure washer..

Ive done it a few times. Boil and pick like PR said. The hardest part is getting the brain out. I use peroxide instead of bleach to get it white. It takes a lof of work but when you are done you get a nice scull/european mount.

Thanks guys, I simmered for a while a pulled and plucked, came out pretty good. Like the idea of the beetles, but I don't do enough of it to warrant those.

I boiled once back in the college dorms, roommate came back and thought I was hanging in the closet for a week! Not a pleasant aroma since I picked the raccoon skull out of a river. Just make sure plenty of fresh air.

A relative had access to UMass many years ago. He put my bear skull into the beetle tank and it came out great.
