40 bucks
This cost $40.00 at homies.
35w halogen low voltage underwater pond light. It's 9Volt already so just wire it up. Lasted a full season and I can buy 17 of them for the price of LEDs And its redicilously bright. I just made an L bracket and bolted it to the trim tab as you can see. I'm putting 2 more on this season :hee: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y25...PICS3572-1.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y25...k/4bc53389.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y25...k/a3ba373a.jpg |
Your cheapo underwater light:
F__freak:
Can you tell me more about this? 9v. Do you power it with your standard 12v. boat system? Do you wire it with on/off switching? Where is homies? Thanks, SK |
Home depot underwater pond light.
If you were to put it in a pond you need to buy a voltage converter From 110v a/c to 9vd/c with it, as its 9volts. which works just fine off the boats 12v system. Yes just on an on/off switch. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Damn that,s really sweet ,
I,d get one if I was chasing squid or had a slip out further :buds: |
I got one of those lights around here somewhere! Will have to investigate and give it a try.

a little redneck but neat none the less.
Probably about a 6 amp draw though...4 of those is 24 amps...you are not going to leave that on for very long. |
True I run 1 all night, but I also have an 8D battery for acc. And A generator.
For 4 I'll just get the transformer and run them strait off the generator Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
For cheap LED's check out coastalnightlights.com Not the most solid construction but very bright and about 1 amp per light. I have their spreaders...amazing how bright and no power drain at all. The beauty of LED is low power consumption.
I spent a lot of time researching underwater LED's this winter. Everyone is getting into this market. It is changing quickly. You can spend 5000 on a single light if you have the cash but most of us can find a better use for that kind of money. Right now I think the best bang for the buck for a well made permanent mount LED light are the Lumitec SeaBlaze 3 they are about 200/per. The next step up are the new Amphibian A12 pro's. about 800/per, very bright and a solid composite housing. I plan on going for 4 of the sea blaze3's in all blue . I may also toss a couple of the coastals under the swim platform for direct down facing lights in white. Having a generator is nice. You can run all kinds of crap and not care too much about power consumption. Heck you can roast a turkey out there! I have 2 8D's for my house load and one group 31 for dedicated starting (all AGM's), and lighting is all LED except for one spot light. Once I move to the new radar (that draws about 1.2 amps), I should be able to leave everything on all night with no generator. As much as I want a generator...I know if I get one it will only be the beginning to a much longer wish list of boat crap I want. |

just curious, why would you want a light under the water? to attract bait?

Bait, herring, squid , and the predators that come with them

Attracts everything ...including crowds ...
but it also looks cool underway at night or even at the dock. |
I've been looking at some LEDs that I can just bolt onto the trim tabs. IIRC they are around $120 each. Nice and bright at the boat shows.
