Deep Water
Do you think more large fish are taken from shore near deep water? Why and what situations draw them there?
|
yes .
its the ladies . when ever they have alcohol and the ladies show . |
Yes Ifeel that larger fish are taken near deep water drop offs especially during the day light hours. They come up from 30-40' depths up onto the shoal and I feel that Mr. Striper feels safer being able to escape. Bait fish get trapped in these areas. And I difinitly like it when waves are breaking in that same area and the water has that white foam look,"very fishy:laughs:

For instance, on the charts Castle Hill has 20' MLT near shore but Pt. Judith has a long stretch of 4'.
Also, the same current has dug 19' at the end of Napatree but leaves only 12' at the tip of Watch Hill. Is there any value in searching for large fish near large drop-offs, or is it one of too many factors to make much difference? |
I think it becomes a major factor later in the season because of water temps. Those deeper waters might be 2-3 degrees cooler than the shallow stuff. On the other hand with the colder temps right now in some of the deeper water, I'm looking for fish in some of the shallower areas and warmer flowing estuaries... JMO
