canal jigging reel
I am thinking of picking up another spinning reel to jig on a 1209. Maybe 8-12 trips and only part time use. Not stella or dogfight level, but an alternative to the old style emblem pro I currently use.
Penn conquer? Daiwa Windcast Z? What's out there these days to consider in the $300 and under range? |
The saltist I posted in the bst

Saragosa is getting a lot of use these days.

I think the Saltist casts a little better than the Saragossa. They're both good reels for the price.

Also wish they still made those older version Emblem Pro. Anyone know any shops or online that still has inventory? |
Moses, my emblem pro will likely come up for sale to fund the new reel. I never used it enough to get comfortable with the button for locking the spool, which is why I am looking for something else. I always have to think about it and I prefer not to at 3 am when I switch rods. It probably has less than a couple hundred casts on it and probably only 1/2 dozen smaller bass.

Zimmy you at 300.00 for you reel your looking for. This is what I did i took a hard look at all my gear and down sized lures, bags, rod, and reels and sold all of it. I had fishing stuff i haven't used in years and still top quality. Then i up graded to van staal's 150,200,275, 2 new rods, New custom mold, and a new commando Bag. My advice is sell to buy again.

I am basically selling to buy Joe, but a VS i not what I am after to put on a rod I only use for jigging, and then under specific conditions .

Does anybody use one of the larger penn battles? Curious as to how those reels would perform.
