Pics of Keeper and very large salmon caught in the Merrimack
1 Attachment(s)
Following is a picture of my first keeper of the year...
Also, this guy caught this salmon right before we got there. I was fortunate enough to get a picture of it. What a beauty! All in all we caught 5 keepers between 28 - 31 inches. We fished the Merrimack River from Lawrence down to Methuen. |

beautiful fishes. it looks like a seatrout to me because it's kinda a little skinny. anyway, nice catches. did u release them or keep them?
|
I kept the Striper. Typically I would have let it go, but my brother wanted it.
I have no idea who that guy was with the Salmon. I just happened to show up right after he reeled it in. |

I'd take a picture of my fish, but I'm too tired:) and my thumbs too sore. Must sleep now, but those are pretty darn good pictures for a cell phone.
|
where were these fish caught on the merrimack?
|
guys,
are you allowed to keep salmon caught in the merrimack? for some reason i thought you had to release all of them. |
 I'm assuming if the salmon was taken from the same place the bass was caught it's a sea run salmon. That makes the angler who kept it A REAL LOWLIFE SCUM BAG!!!! :smash: :behead: :hang:
How is this greatest (no slight to the almighty striper) gamefish to be restored if the few returning breeders are removed from the fishery? This man is no better than someone who brings home a garbage full of schoolies!!!! If by chance this is a broodstock salmon which was taken legally farther up stream my sincere apoligies. However, it does not look like a broodstock to me as the dorsal fin is clipped on all broodstock to identify them as such. Regardless all salmon caught downstream MUST BE RELEASED Any game wardens watching this forum? You've got a good picture of the culprit! |
As usual evreyone jumps to conclusions. Where in the post does it say the guy kept the fish? You must be a psychic. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt, negativity belongs on the other site not on this one.

Merrimack Salmon
No salmon can be kept that are caught below the Great Stone Dam which is where this guy is standing. Even if he didn't keep it he shouldn't be standing there on the boat ramp holding it up while someone takes his picture. He should have released it right away and enjoyed the memory. Not many salmon are caught here and if we don't protect them not many will be in the future.
