I just saw that myself. Amazing that after most of the cleanup is done, they announce this. Musta figured they'd take some more heat.
The part I really have trouble with is that when they got the OK to tow the barge out of the East End, it started leaking again so they docked it at the Maritime Acad. Who's the moron that gave them the ok? Shouldn't that have been double, even TRIPPLE checked before they moved it? They should face criminal charges for the improper reporting ..... or something   :af: :af: |
gee- what a surprise... I can't believe thy'd try to underestimate the spill numbers...... friggin' bastages.:af: these guys suck-

GB hit it right on the head . 2 weeks ago he said they were not telling the truth. looked like 100,000 gallons

someone should rip Bouchard a new 4ssh0l3 and sell them down the river cheap to someone who'll run that company properly.. I can't believe they let morons run these companies... kinda like trying to outdo Enron and WorldCom.
And why can't the gov't require all tankers going through the canal to be double or triple hulled? I'd think it'd be CHEAPER to pay to get their ships extra-hulled than to pay to clean up the mess. Stupidity rears its ugly face every day. :af: :af: :smash: |

So, by their own methods, we should fully expect their fine will be a hole lot more than they were lead to beleive? I say we multiply the fine X 10. They should nail the idiot to a wall this time!!!

Was at the canal last Wednesday morning. About 7:30 or so, I saw a bit of an oil slick go by.....nothing major, but I did notice it.
About 20 minutes later, a HUGE barge, being pushed by a HUGE tug, went by heading eastbound. The were accompanied by the "Canal Guardian".....both the tug and the barge had the Bouchard name on them.... The yells and screams from the guys fishing were all "GO HOME, YOU F*#@*ing ARSEHOLES!" and whole lot's of birds being flipped. Doubt highly that it was "THE" barge, as last I heard, it was tied up at the Academy before it was supposed to head to NYC.....so I don't think it would be headed east. I jokingly said to Paul "Watch them take out the Sagamore!" Funny thing was, about an hour after that, a Coast Guard jet went over head, and I said, again, jokingly "Oh great, it sunk!" About an hour after that, the Canal Guardian came back on it's own the other way, so evidently they made it out to Cape Cod Bay without incident...... |
