2 questions
1.) How should I keep a dead eel until rigging?
2.) What kind of set ups do you have to keep eels alive? (aquariums, etc..) Thanks for any input |
Kosher salt and water until the salt won't dissolve anymore. Stick it in the fridge.
Or just freeze them. Three buckets, some ice and bubble weed will keep them alive for a while if you change the ice regularly. Or a tank with a aerator. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
And change the tank water if you can smell 'fish' when you put your nose over the water and give a sniff.

2) Screw top 5 gallon bucket drilled full of holes in a stream...

Be careful if your water has a lot of chlorine. Eels don't like that

1) Slip eels into a filled Poland Spring water bottle and freeze.

I just used to stick them in a zip top sandwich bag and pop 'em in the freezer. When you want to use them, hook them just like you would a live eel, and cast them. After a few casts, the frozen donut will thaw and you will be in business.
I had a paper bag full of these in my freezer for a couple of years and they still worked. |

Frozen, dead eels won't try to wrap around your arm, or make eel balls out of themselves and your leader. :)
