whats the best way to rig/fish live squid

i caught my first squid today and as i have never fished squid before i was unsure on how to rig them or fish them. i ended up putting a single circle hook in it's head with a 3 oz drail as i was fishing moving water apx. 40' deep and just drifted along , sadly to no avail , thanks

Hook right thru the top of its pointy end. About an inch down There's a tough piece of flesh there, they will stay alive all day.

If you hook them through the head you will kill them. Hook them through the tail, right in the middle, the hook should go through the cuttlebone and they will stay on the hook and stay alive.
