Data Collection Team; Striped Bass

I have signed on to help with this study through Kristen Ferry at the DMF. If interested in helping out, her email is Kristen.Ferry@state.me.us

I am to obtain scale samples from ten striped bass each month, May through October, and send them in with the length measurement and general place of catch. More info here;http://www.state.ma.us/dfwele/dmf/re...m#ageandgrowth

Just thought I would let you know

Hey Ridler,

Finally picked up this past midweek. Been getting mid twenty inch fish all weekend, heard a report of 1 40 inch off the lighthouse, but can't confirm. Real wet conditions and high surf have made a number of spots unsafe to fish yesterday and this morning, but the swell is subsiding and I am on my way out in an hour.

Haven't emailed Kristen as yet, but that was the email addy off the literature...but her phone in Gloucester office is 978 282-0308 ext. 119.
She presented to Mhead Surfcaster monthly metting back in March I believe. She was cool and really into the stripers. Very interesting about their diet, ie she pumps their stomachs to see what they're eating. A lot of work from the fresh water estuaries. And get this; her data says the Danvers, Essex, and other river areas up this way are more productive than any others in state.
