That lobster was caught in fed. waters.....It states that the chances of catching a yellow lobster is 1 in 30 million..I got a yellow one out the the ditch 2 years in a row......:)

What I would be wondering would be:
How old can lobsters get, and at what age do they stop reproducing? Just how "edible" would a lobster that big (or bigger) be? Wouldn't it be tougher, less flavorful than it's smaller brethren? If that lobster proves to be less than perfect table fare due to its size and age, will they be returning it to the sea or putting it on display for as long as it lives in captivity? Just curious, since we are so concerned with the keeping of large breeder bass, I figured that possible large breeder lobsters should warrent equal concern. |
I used to get lobsters that big ir bigger all the time in RI. I think the biggest I got in RI was 23.5 pounds. There is an upper size limit on them now in federal waters.

I ate a 14 lber a few years back and it was great. The claw meat got a bit over cooked, only the tips though. The rest was as good as any lobster i have had. I didnt feel so good after dinner though. 2 sticks of butter has a tendency to do that.
