NOAA Near Coastal Water Forecast
 

Anyone else find that the reports haven't been reflecting the actual conditions when you go out.

last night the massachusetts bay forecast was for sw wind 10-15 kt, 2-4 foot seas. when i got out there was no wind, the water was glass, and every 10-15 minutes there was a some sets that were about head high (i was wading up to my waist)

this happened to me a few times this year.

I find surf reports helpful. Here is a good source.

As for wind, I use NOAA, but this site is also supposedly useful (I've only just started using it and can't vouch for it myself) FishWeather.com - MA- Cape Cod Wind Data

I use accuweather for radar stuff to judge thunderstorms/rain timing and track

Finally I often check a NOAA live buoy report close to where I will fish to see what the real conditions are before I leave the house.

WeatherUnderground is a great source also.

Or subtract 10 MPH.....you never know sometimes with them.

I'm with Numby. Surfer dudes know weather, man.

I've been using Weather Forecast & Reports - Long Range & Local | Wunderground | Weather Underground for years and there's a ton of good stuff on here. Good radar and you can see 24 hours of archived radar.

You can also find historical data for all major weather measurements in 1 hour increments. You can look at it by the hour, day or week. Helps to update the log book if you have't kept up with it.

I've found the marine forecast very reliable and you can access all of the local measurement stations to see the raw data. Decent mobil app too.

Surfline is another good one I use for most of my spots. You can get a three day forcast for wave height and wind. Also gives you real time weather forcast and water temps.

Don't know what the forecast was but it BIG on Brenton at 5 this morning. Rollers but no chop so it was fishable. There are decent fish around but they are pick even with eels.

I can never trust the reports on the reef. I just head out there and make a game time decision.

Aviation forecast, usually VERY accurate. Got everything u need except baro pressure, but you can figure it out by looking at cloud levels. Dewpoint below 3 = fog, and all that other stuff.

Magic seaweed is the other one for swell predictions. Usually right one, and you get the direction they're coming from and everything. I've found swell direction to make a big difference believe it or not.

I really like sailflow.com for wind predictions, seems to be pretty accurate, you can also get an app for the phone... usually check it right when I wake up to see if Plan A is still a go....

I use the big pines in my front yard.... they tell me all I need to know about the wind... when i get to the boat... if water is splashing over the jetty.. i stay in the river...that's as reliable as any NOOA forecast I have ever seen..
