Not sure about makos, but definitely brown sharks mixed in there. They love pogies and mullet.

They'll hit a plug for sure. I've seen that a couple times off Ocean City, NJ when kayak sharking. Looks like a bluefish blitz until you see the fins. Both times I saw the blitzes I didn't have a plug, but I had one hit a bare snag hook right next to the boat when I was trying to snag bait. Would be awesome to toss a single-hook pencil popper into that. Or better yet, a fly.

It was pretty wild. Not only were there the sharks in the school, but a bunch would swim up to the kayak checking it out. Definitely didn't want to dangle a foot in the water that day.

All the ones I saw were browns, but in Tom's video could be blacktips or spinners, especially with the warm weather this year. Never knew browns to launch themselves out of the water like that.

i do have some heavy fly rods. these guys were in casting range, 12ft 12wt 2 handed should be able to do it, if not i got a 15/16 GLX

10- to 12-weights would be fine for browns, provided you have plenty of backing.

Sgt Striper 08-18-2012 09:47 AM

Browns and Sand Tiger's!! Putting together a shark adventure for tonight! This could be fun.

awesome video. I have never seen bunker jump that high in the air before. Then I realized they were being thrown out of the air. AWESOME
