Info on lami GSB 108 1 L
Am considering having a local shop wrap a lami GSB 108 1 L. Need input in regard to its range of casting weights and optimal lure weight. Looking to throw between .5 ozthrough a max of 2.5 with a sweet spot at 1.5 and 1.75. Thanks Charlie

Great blank. I use mine for the north shore of long island or the back bays. You can throw 2.5 with it, but it is pretty much lost at that weight. All lami's are a bit different, but the sweet spot on mine is at about 11/4 oz. dont expect to throw anything above 2 oz into more than a 25 knot wind as you will be at a loss. On the lower end I can throw a 1/4 oz lead head and still have enough feel to work it properly. Love the rod, but I keep things on the light side when I am using it.

I just moved my post to the rod building thread, since it was too long and technical.
I think casting style has a lot to do with what you throw with a rod. I like this blank for 1-3 but agree it is not the tool to power heavy plugs into the wind. I think it is best at 1.5-2.25. It will throw heavy stuff very comfortably but takes its time doing it. |
