sabiki rigs?

Hello Folks,

Here is a topic I know nothing about. Can you educate me on sabiki rigs for catching bait fish? How important is it to have a sabiki rod?

Thanks for your help.

Take care, Tom

you do not need a sabiki rod. just tie one on and put a weight or jig on the bottom and have at it. roll it up on a piece of pipe insulation to store it or just leave it on a dedicated rod. you'll hook yourself constantly but they work

I just use a freshwater rod...I throw a Diamond jig on the bottom and let her rip.

I use whatever rod i have handy. I store it by wrapping it around a water bottle and putting it in a zip lock bag.

The only advantage of a Sabiki rod is it stores the rig inside the rod not exposing hooks.
It's another gimic just like everyone saying you have to have a short Kite rod to fly a kite.
My opinion the rod is way too stiff.
Any rod, spinning or conventional will do.

ya i bought one of those used it once (anyone want to buy it) its good to store the sibiki but.... its bulky, no bend and .....it is the biggest pain in the ass ever to run the line up through it if you get broken off( almost impossible on the boat without getting severly pissed off!)
