FISH finders

I just wondering do fish finders work and the best place to us them from a boat or on a nice sandy beach or just all the time

I fish from a boat all the time. I use them for fluking and for bass. I use them pretty much all the time.
I sometimes chunk and use no weight. Any time I need weight I use them.
