Need help planning
 

going to visit father in law in Sint Maartin the beginnig of January and need to know what to bring. Last time I saw a ton of gar fish, does anything make a meal of them? I also saw a white flounder which I would love to try. But the one thing I saw was a fish that looked like a 40lb striper blasting through bait under water along a set of docks. Was more fat than long and couldn't really tell the color but dark and maybe a green twinge to it. I am a stone throw to the water at Big Bay on the Dutch side, but will travel and try anything. What type rods/reels should I bring? Plugs? Hooks? I am cheating here, cause I dont get much from punching keywords into search bar
