I have a great day OTW with Ross in his home waters today. First tried to find some macks or pogies in the 2 local harbors but no love... went out to one of Ross's fav jiggin spots and quickly jigged up some nice 20-24 inch fish. both cod and pollock.

Connected with Tunaless Greg who was also in the area enjoying the great morning weather... found a school of macks and quickly loaded up the bait well with tunker macks.

We also landed what I thought was a small tog but Greg said it was a cummer so we kept the fish which was about 3 lbs and 14-15" in length... tog like but much lighter in color.. similar to cod color... anyone ever catch these on the north shore?

we then headed in to live line macks in rocks next to shore... whoa that is some serious fun this time of year... mack hits the water ... swims for 30-60 seconds and fish on... we landed 7 that ran up to ~ 40" and then called it a day so we could clean up and get ready for the Pats game...

here are some pics of Ross and his sweet G-W R2-D2... very nice ride

The day really came together quickly after we made the decision to get some cod. Bass on live macs was a bonus! Your reaction to how vicious the strikes are was priceless. Only thing you missed out on was seeing some tuna jumpers.... And now you know why I don't leave home waters....
Thanks for the grinder too. Will be put to good use as soon as I clean up my shop.

cunners are very common on the wrecks and rockpiles. the farther offshore you go the bigger they can get.
looks like a great day

Nice inshore cod catch. Getting stripers on live lined macs is always exciting!

Chris,
How did you cook the bergal? And how was it?

Only a month has passed, yet seems so long ago... Gonna be a long winter.
