State Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said Texas was the only state to her knowledge that came forward with reservations, but that the OSCE has since sent a letter, both to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and to Texas authorities reassuring them that "OSCE observers are committed to following all U.S. laws and regulations as they do in any country where they observe elections."

But Janez Lenarčič, the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights which oversees election monitoring, also shared his concerns about Abbot's threats in his letter to Clinton.

"The threat of criminal sanctions against OSCE/ODIHR observers is unacceptable," Lenarčič said. "The United States, like all countries in the OSCE, has an obligation to invite ODIHR observers to observe its elections."

someone needs to tell this jackwad we do not have a national election in this country. We have 50 separate state elections that happen to occur on the same day. He has no authority over ANY state. We're just the one the few states that still has balls

Economically speaking, Texas has lower taxes, lower debt, lower cost of living, less expensive public universities.

CT is doomed. The liberals that run this stare (and have been running it as long as I have been alive) have driven us to bankruptcy. We can never, ever, ever pay down the debt, thanks to pensions and cadillac health plans promised to labor unions.

Oh wait...we have a 9-mile busway from New Britain to Hartford, which only cost $550 million. For a bus that 40 people will ride every day. That'll save us!

I'm doing fine, by the way, the liberals aren't crippling me personaly. But I like to consider the welfare of everyone, and this state is simply doomed.

What about that can you disagree with? CT is a beautiful place, and conveniently located. But it's a perfect experiment in what 50 years of unchecked liberalism gets you, and what it gets you is bankruptcy. A wise person once said that the probnlem with socialism, is that eventually, you run out of other people's money.

I was proud when Scott Brown got Elected. Chief slinging bull Liawatha is leading though. So it appears we will have another congress person in the house that is indebted to interests outside of MA once again.

Texas is an extremely proud state. Fiercly independant. The Texas flag does not fly below the US Flag, it flies at the same height as the US flag. Texas was an independent republic before it became a state. This election as is every election, is a state election, not a national election, like every other state. We do not have national electionss in the country. You know that right? These are STATE elections.
Foreign interests have zero, none, nada, right or jurisdication or rights in the state of TX.
I cannot believe that some of you would stomach walking in to vote and be "oberserved" by a foreign entity.

Compare rates of obesity, diabetes or any health metric. Childhood hunger or poverty. Etc.

Compare them all you want. TX has a growing population, CT has a shrinking population. There is a reason why.

TX shares a huge border with a country called "Mexico", and as such, Texas gets a huge number of penniless immigrants who have few skills. Therefore, simply comparing poverty rates, without adjusting for the impact of uillegals, is misleading. CT doesn't have that situation, and it's not because the liberals kicked all the illegals out.

CT has cities that are total, complete, abject failures. And unlike Texas, we are also broke. Texas still has money they can spend to solve their problems.

Correct. Here in CT, the only way left to make money is to put toll booths on th ehighways leading out of state.

We are broke, and yet spent $550 million for a 9 mile busway. You read that right, $550 million to pave 9 miles of road and buy a few buses. Almost $60 million per mile.

I told my state rep that if they ever extend the busway to New Hampshire, sign me up for 5 one-way tickets for me & my family.

I could care less of the growing pop. I'd never move to Texas (had the opportunity years ago for work when my company was opening up regional home offices - almost no one went). I go to San Antonio at least 4 times per year.

We have different values. Go to Texas or NH., I like CT.

no one is asking you to move, but you cannot ignore the volumes of data that TX has one of the fastest growing affluent, educated populations, booming economy, low taxes, great culture and in some areas, not all - fantastic school systems. texas people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet. Paul - there is a reason all these people are moving here. There is a reason hundreds of people from my company have relocated. I am surrounded by people from MA , NH and RI. I respect people for where every they live and understand the balance of life. No place is perfect for everyone. But you (and others) come across as uninformed when you try to throw out some random data or stereotype. You're wrong. I know, I've done the research and I have lived in CT, MA, RI, CA.
I dont recall the number but "The South" is in the book of 50 things liberals love to hate.
Back to the original thread - TX is standing up for itself. You can wave hello to Fritz, Manuel, or Diego from the UN as you walk into your polling station.

Pretty soon the UN tanks will be coming up through Mexico. Wolverines!
