IMPORTANT QUESTION!

What do you think the fishing is like? Going out tonight here in SoCo RI. Do the fish that were around pre-'Cane hold up in ponds and rivers, or do they go out to sea? Anyone have an idea, hypothesis... opinion?

There were birds working off moonstone 2 days ago and a lot of broken sea clams washing up on the beach. Makes me think there may be cod in shore?

I found a pile of fish and birds pushed into a cove off Boston harbor on tuesday. But the north side of the cape was dead for me yesterday

Birds were working feverishly this morning (Thursday) also in a cove off Boston Harbor.....don't know about fish under them.

Your best bet in my opinion is to find clean water on a sandy beach that has some rock strutcure on one end and chunk the hell out of the edge where they meet.

Last year after a big blow we hit a local beach, took a few days for the water to clear but once it did it was great fishing, nothing on plugs or eels, all they wanted were small chunks like 1" wide pieces. We are talking mid 20 to low 30lb bass on small chunks.

surf clams, crabs and mole crabs all get broken and smashed after a big storm and the fish will come in to feed once the silt has settled down.

The second night we decided we would slow crawl eels along the bottom, not a tap, thru on the chunks again and fish were hitting within minutes.

Im not a big fan of bait fishing, but after a big storm its a proven tactic that usually produces some impressive catches. The fish are nose down and grubbing along the bottom looking for an easy meal.

be safe out there, still some good swells around. good luck :fishin:

A friend of mine told me last night that at the boat yard he works at he has seen a lot of bass while moving around the docks, moorings etc. the past couple days. Hitting it tonight.

Bounce a white bucktail/porkrind slowly along the bottom where you find smashed up clams. I don't know if the bass think it's a clam chunk bobbing around or a fish feeding on clams, but it works!
