Escalation? Question of air space...

Not to hijack PR's thread...which, by the way, is a good one for discussion. Last time I checked touring the White House was free. Maybe BO is now charging $20 to help pay down the deficit..haha! Back to PR's topic...

Hispanic voters, who were instrumental in putting Barack Obama back in the White House, now hope the president will work diligently in his second term to cross some big to-dos off their legislative wish list: jobs, affordable education, health care access and immigration reform.

We voted – now let’s get things done. That was the strong takeaway today from Latino leaders and activists during a discussion of the sweeping and historic Latino vote in yesterday’s election. “Last night Latinos confirmed unequivocally that the road to the White House goes through Hispanic neighborhoods,” said Clarissa Martinez De Castro, from the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). ”The Latino giant is wide awake, cranky and is taking names,” said labor leader Eliseo Medina, of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Yesterday’s Latino vote made history in two ways. Over 12 million Latinos came out to vote, according to preliminary numbers, and for all the handwringing about whether Latinos would have the enthusiasm or numbers to vote, this is a 22 percent increase from 2008. Just over 10 percent of the nation’s voters were Hispanic. Moreover, President Obama received 75 percent of the Latino vote, according to impreMedia/Latino Decisions exit polls, thus obtaining the highest number of Latino voters; President Clinton received about 72 percent in 1996. These numbers translated to a “watershed moment,” in the words of Latino Decisions co-principal and Stanford University political scientist Gary Segura. For the first time in history, Segura explained, the Latino vote can plausibly claim to be nationally decisive in the presidential election. Latinos gave a 5.3 percent bump to President Obama, according to Latino Decisions’ numbers. This was crucial in battleground states with close margins between Obama and Romney. |

Have you been to Gettysburg and done the tour? I have. Howabout the Alamo? Beat you by about 10 years probably. :) Now piss off. :) TEHRAN — Iran’s defense minister on Friday confirmed that Iranian warplanes had fired shots at an American drone last week but said they had taken the action after the unmanned aircraft had entered Iranian airspace. NYT article. I'm pretty sure we get pissed off when unauthorized stuff enters our airspace. AF goes absolutely berserk if you violate airspace over various ranges. Nother interesting part: It is unclear why Iranian officials had kept the episode a secret. It also is unclear, from the Iranian account, whether the warplanes had sought to down the drone and missed, or had fired warning shots to chase it away. We don't shoot to kill on first pass either. Warning shots are pretty standard across the board, unless you're Bush Jr. :hihi: They're not exactly fast or super maneuverable. |

Not to be a surprise spoiler but I think you will see drones testing more and more of Iranian airspace. For various reasons.

How friggan bad is your aim that an Iranian Air Force pilot couldn't hit a drone? Jiminey, they only fly about 100 m.p.h. don't they. Must've been one of thier old missiles, right?:nopics: |
