America at it's best
I was riding West on RT 80 this morning when I came across a caravan of
35 electric utility trucks returning to Dayton, Ohio. As I passed them I was truly moved realizing these guys had given up 3 weeks of hard 16 hr days work 400 miles from home to help others. I honked each truck as I passed giving them the thumbs up. I thought about all the volunteers working to help others even when their own homes had been destroyed, the churches providing food and shelter for the homeless ones, the local and county equipment restoring the dunes and clearing the roads, the state National Guard helping and patrolling. Everyone working on their own and neighbor's houses, what was left of them, not looking for a hand out. The America I remember where people took responsibility for themselves and revered their independence and freedom. Clear away all the Big G BS and it's still there. A refreshing day. |
you have to celebrate the little wins!
Good work! |
A guy in my town who works for Nstar just went down for a shift in NJ;his digs consist of a tent to warm his bones after a 16 hr. shift.
