If every single joint below my waist wasn't wasted, I'd be there. Believe it or not the Bombas were skiing legends back in the day of MT. TOM.

RickBomba 12-24-2012 03:02 PM

I'm still a legend.

Higgie 12-24-2012 03:07 PM

I used to do the boarder cross races at mt. Tom in the early-mid ninetys.

I, personally, was done on January 2nd, 1993, when I tore my ACL, PCL, and meniscus in the opening day of the corporate league GS races, where Mikey cut in front of me at the head-to-head finish (he had no where else to go).

This was the one time that I figured out that setting the bindings to 14 so the skis wouldn't pre-release on the chatter was a monumentally bad and life changing mistake.

I don't even know if Mikey finished out the season. It was the end of the Mt. Tom Ice Demons (we were the home team) and maybe the series there.

Baah, at least I have you guys. I'll take the latter.

Merry Xmas,
Rick

Turfguy,Jay would be a great choice, they got quite a bit more than most areas did.Mikey, these days you just replace the knees and hips .and you are good to go.i keep my fingers crossed, after 45 years of skiing my knees are still holding up,its my mind that is that is failing.

Backbeach Jake 12-25-2012 08:51 PM

John! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Rappin Mikey 12-25-2012 11:19 PM

I had buddies that used to live in Solitude Station on Copper. Great being able to wake up at 8:00, not drive, and still be able to get freshies before anyone. We would ride cafeteria trays down to the base after the lifts stopped for the day. Snow mobile back up. Awesome.

l.i.fish.in.vt 12-26-2012 06:10 AM

Mikey,JP was able to get employee housing, which is about a 100 yards or so from the lift.Oh to be young again.

Last year I was hoping to get out again after back surgery, but it was so mild, I played golf every weekend instead. Taught at Berkshire East for 4 years after Zoo-Mass in Amherst and had some memerable and life threatening trips out west with some crazy ski instructor buddies.

Question, I have to go look at a production facility in Utica NY around the middle of Janauary and was thinking since the company will let me expense a night stay I'd break up the trip by skiing a day coming or going and hit the plant on a Friday or Monday. I have no clue if any of the skiing close is worth while, so my thoughts are Mt. Snow and then go or Killington (less direct); anyone know if anything closer to Utica is worth a damn?

We should put a Striped-Bass ski day together, probably enough crazies on this site to make for a fun day. Sunday River is definatly in my sites for a weekend later in the season, need for OZ to open before I venture north, looks like the season is starting well for them for sure.

bassballer 12-26-2012 08:57 AM

im hoping to get out this weekend. i need to make some turns badly.

What is not to like about Colorado................?
I am sure he is happy with that choice.I have a friend with a place at Winter Park who offered it up to me for a cleaning fee.I have only been to CO. one time about 20 years ago for a trip to Vail and it was memorable. 97 trails open at Stowe today and a strm brewing has me realizing I am out of shape.

Poncho 12-26-2012 11:15 AM

spent day before xmas and xmas at loon, conditions were ok, good coverage on trails that were open, no lift lines and some fresh snow all in all we had a great trip, until my wife tore here knee up. Going to the Dr. at 2pm hope its just a sprain

vineyardblues 12-26-2012 04:51 PM

Happy Holidays John

ProfessorM 12-26-2012 06:19 PM

God I would love to try skiing again but I imagine I am wayyyyyy to out of shape. Last time I skied was in Taos New Mexico in 1984, probably last time I was in shape too. I'd probably be better off sitting in the lodge and drinking a few beers, out of shape for that too.

l.i.fish.in.vt 12-27-2012 07:32 PM

Pretty close to 2 feet so far from this storm. One of the best Christmas weeks in a long time, after last year it is well needed.

Higgie 12-27-2012 07:46 PM

I didn't make it to jay but visited a friend in Wilmington vt who's snowboard patrol at mt. Snow and spent the day there. 16-20" just puking snow all morning epic powder day for this time of the season. Depressing ride back into mansfield to see nothing on the ground

Looking forward to getting some turns in this winter. This year I am planning it to make it to Sugarloaf in ME., I have herd lots of good things about Sugarloaf but never made it there. Back to the original thread about Sugarbush in VT. Ages ago I was with a bunch of folks for a ski house there for a winter at Sugarbush. Lots of fun skiing ,and hanging out at the Hideaway after.
