I have to admit I am one of the guys that usually just looks. I would report something if I had more to offer. Only my second year fishing. Caught 21 fish in the morning last Saturday but were all schoolies so who wants pictures of those. Biggest was 25 inches. We were over behind the Maritime Academy where it drops off before the canal entrance. There were terns diving around us, bass were pushing the bait straight out of the water. Was pretty cool to see. In the afternoon tried the canal for the first time just after the tide turned. Guy next to us caught a nice 32" on a fishfinder with mackerel chunks with a 5 oz sinker. I tried the same set up but still couldn't avoid getting snagged. Skunked but will try again. Great day all around and doing the same this weekend. Would love to meet up with some of you guys and learn how to cath the big ones! :laughs: That's two keepers I've seen from mrmacey, makes me want to call in sick tomorrow and catch up. I'm jealous!

that happens with that plug everynow and then, think it might have to do with the wood type. 5 min epox will fix it in a jiff.

Raven 06-05-2003 12:14 PM

wood types

ever seen that liquid that makes wood harder than it already is?
theres that or reduce your holesize a bit and then gluem in as a lubricant for the tighter fit.

water and maple dont mix. it was all about my sealing process before. i do it much better better now, heck i do the whole plug much better now. practice makes perfect.

Nice Job!! Now that you broke the cycle your ready for a bunch of nice leagle fish!!

JohnR 06-05-2003 12:20 PM

Now you're destined to become a surcaster! See it happens - you've gotten more keepers now this year.

'Course, yer a big dude and a 30# is going to look like a 22 compared to you. I KNOW that parking lot anywhere :laughs:

cool

Hey,

That's a sweet rod! You build it yourself? I've got an eva grip at home. I was going to do the same set up, cork-tape in the butt-section and then the eva. Problem was the eva I bought was a tad to big.

How do you like it?

Does it balance properly?

Tightlines,

Stroth
