RIP Dave "Pops" Masch
|
That truly stinks...he was a hell of a nice guy. We had him speak at our club a couple of years back...he came early and cooked some fish for a bunch of us in the kitchen before the meeting.
Condolences to the family |
My favorite writer :(

RIP Pops. Even my wife enjoyed speaking with him a couple yrs back @Striperfest. We've got and use his cookbook.
|
great writer.....loved reading all of his articles. Sounds like he was just as great of a guy, wish I had the chance to have met him. I think I will have to get his books now.
|

I really enjoyed his articles and recipes, condolences to the family and a great loss for the fishing community.

What a bummer. I always flipped to his section in the mag. I have and use his cookbook. He will be missed.
|
Shocked and truly saddened. He was and is the topic of many conversations.
One time I saw him in town and said hello at his truck. I then turned to the bed and saw an indescribable site to which I asked him "What is that" His reply slow and sure was ..."Art" What did I see but apiece of a large tree sitting like a table to which were nailed probably a hundred duck feet. I still chuckle at that and it did have an artistic look that only he could pull off He like many is my favorite part of the magazine |
Seemed like a guy who loved life and tried to pass that on.
|
he will be missed
|
God Bless Pops. Always enjoyed your insight and recipes......

Now who is gonna tell us what kinda critter that is and how ya cook it. |
I always turned to his section first. He will be missed RIP "pops"
|
I just read about him asking the doctor for his amputated toe....He must have been going through some tough times, (couldn't tell that from his articles though...) always upbeat in his writings, not a sympathy chaser.
God Bless Dave. Rest In Peace ~ Thoughts, prayers and our deepest condolences to any of his family that may get to read any of these threads. |

Wow. Every time I hit the road for a long trip, someone dies. I loved his writing and just finished reading his latest article in OTW.
GOD SPEED OLD FRIEND Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Never met him, sent in a letter or two. Seemed like a character who had it figured out. Rest In Peace Pops

Although I never met Pops I've been an enthusiastic reader of his columns for years. Like Dave, I too am somewhat of a naturalist and a "chef", cooking my catches in as many ways as I can think of and actually bought his book at last year's RISAA show. It's sad to see such an iconic member of the fishing community pass on, but for me his knowledge, stories and recipes will continue to be an inspiration. Rest easy, Pops.

Wow what a shock. Loved his wit and info in his articles. Never personally met Pops but it seemed like for the many years reading the mag . RIP.
|
