Good Bye Andrea Hotel

The Andrea hotel was torn down today due to damage from Sandy.

They plan to rebuild for 2014

How true. Our table spot had a mess of boulders in it's place. Amazing the entire building sustain damage beyond repair. Hope we can party there in 2014.

My brother and I fished there the night before

stripermaineiac 01-23-2013 10:53 PM

Hope they put the lights back up. Even if the fish were finicky at least it was incentive LOL.Was a great late night meetin spot.

ivanputski 01-23-2013 11:44 PM

Pete F! I must have missed you! I stopped by there that same night.

Wonder where the MS surf club challenge breakfast will be? Real bummer the 20th anniversary of it wont be at the Andrea.

Surf Club Challenge

From what we understand the Colucci family are planning on having the restauranut and the bar up and running this year with the Hotel next year .We will keep all informed.

Years ago when I was the consummate "surf rat" in SoCo we spent countless hours in the middle of the night fishing under the lights at the Andrea.
They use to leave these huge lights on shining on the water which drew bait and fish. Never caught anything over 20# there but had many 50 and 60 fish nights.

I also think they plan to have some parts operating quickly and that the full restoration will take until 2014.

Good people there. For years they kept an oversand beach access spot open when all around everyone else was trying to close the access points.

A little know secret was the coffee pot that was behind the night clercks desk.Always seemed to be runnin.

I will miss the old Andrea...I have nothing but fond memories, and let me assure you,,,,the fun I had there had NOTHING to do with fishing.:devil2:

tradrodz 01-25-2013 06:40 PM

I'm gonna miss that place...The new one isn't gonna be the same

fishgolf 01-26-2013 11:47 AM

Had our pre 40th class reunion get together there in Sept 2012...should have taken pics...

bart 01-28-2013 10:46 AM

sad. like others have said, always a spot I stop at when running back and forth from the two prominent points on either side in the fall. always run into someone you know, have a person to chat with when you're trying to stay awake late at night. bums me out...

fishpoopoo 01-29-2013 12:54 PM

Oh man, that makes me really sad. Many, many happy memories on the beach there.
