How's it going S-B? I was bummed I missed plug fest this year. I can only imagine some of you must be dying for the return of the striper. Even with all the great fishing here, I still miss New England. Here's a little catch up on the last two months.
Capt. Alan came down for a show and we did a 3 day camp n fish everglades trip with Capt Joey Leclair for test his new 5" pintail in FL. It was an awesome trip with some decent fish considering the weather we had. If you never done a trip like this I recommend it. We saw 5 boats in 3 days and 170 miles of travel. AWESOME!!!! |

The freshwater has been good as well. Haven't chased any monster largemouth yet, but still have managed to land a few decent fish. Love the exotic species like the oscars, pletco and cichlids...... Best of the fresh has been the snook! Especially when they are eating frogs over the pads tended for largemouth!!!!!!

This fish was from 3 days ago and a personal best for me. The massive snook ate a Shimano waxwing in the surf. It was awesome watching these big snook swim thru schools of bait and feed when the small jacks would rush in and start the blitz. This all happened at my feet. Fish was 29-1/2lb on the Boga!

The benefits of camping/fishing in the Everglades is that you can reach areas that they day-boaters have a tough time getting to because it takes so long from the ramps at Flamingo and Chokoloskee ... and you can extend your fishing hours tremendously ... we typically camped on sites up inside on the ground rather than the chickees, although we always had to hang our food from the trees do to racoons, rats, etc. Love winter camping in the Everglades ... lots of fun. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome stuff, would trade all the stripers in the world for catching reds and big snook like that any day.Man do they pull drag.Might actually think of relocating myself soon, Clearwater area.
