Fibrestar rod at TFCTFN
 

I got to look at the Fibrestar rod that was donated to the TFCTFN raffle table. I didn't get to look at the blank that was also donated but the factory built rod had a good feel to it. Nice product.

the blank is a sb1267 - pretty sweet. truthfully i dont throw large plugs alot, most of my plugging is with smaller offerings. so the fine folks at fibrestar are going to swap it with a 1269 and hook me up with a badass heaver.gonna put a thunnus on it, perfect for beach sharking

Indeed a nice product. And John from Fiberstar was more than a stand up guy to deal with putting this together. Hopefully he will get some good feedback on his stuff.

Niko - If you don't already have the Thunnus - I have a beast of one I will send you for free . . . I bought it about 6 or 7 years ago from a guy on SOL for tuna fishing and never used it - it sat on my workbench since . . . it was way too heavy for plugging all day so I moved up to a Stella . . . but the Thunnus might be OK for sitting in a sand spike waiting for the man in a grey suit :uhuh:

I'll take a picture of it tonight and post here tomorrow.

Well Thanks for the words about the rod. Your opinion means a lot to me Saltheart! Westportmafia really did it all. He contacted and we talked about what would be a good choice. He seems to be passionate about fishing and your group of guys. Thanks again and I hope to be up the Canal way sometime in May or June so I hope we can meet some of you guys.

Niko - the reel is the 16000 - it weighs in at a svelte 32 ounces ! I completely forgot it had the baitrunner - might be a good choice for sharkin' :uhuh:

WOW.. That thing is big!! What is the spool lip size on that mama?

Perfect choice. It's heavy but indestructible with a butter silk waterproof drag. I'd grab that over the new ones if your just gonna dead stick bait. Only drawback is the Baitrunner drag is not loud at all. Hard to hear on the beach with crashing surf.
