Net Question
 

Hey, basic question here.

I need a net. I striper-fish off the rocks on the No. Shore, and I have no net. I've seen all different sizes and colors, handle lengths, etc.

Whats best for what I do?

boGa grips might be the answer because a net is a pain to lug around with you especially when your rock hoppin. Just a thought.
Nets are better used in a boat scenario i think.:)

actually thats a cobia not a bass

Looks like it would be harder to use...

A whole lot more expensive.....

Just wanted to show what a cobia looks like....I've never caught one me-self, but I'll be trying REAL HARD for two weeks, come Sunday morning.....:)

they kinda look like a big bull catfish....i was just reading that they are possibly going to be bred in captivity...which is smart..as they are one of the best eating fish. and true sweetieface but if you catch a bluefish it'll flop insanely in a net while you try to unhook it making it a big hassle.think of them as super fingers.

Actually - that pic is a SNOOK - on the list for fish I want to catch :D

SF - it's a tough call but how high is it from where you fish to the water? I know some really experienced people use a long handled gaff and try to gently gaff the fish in the mouth (if there such a thing as genntly gaffing) so it can be released if necessary....

Berkely makes a "long handled" Lip grip but it's still only 28 inches long...

Tough call and I know I don't need to tell you how important it is to know how you will retrieve a fish. I highly recommend that you invest in a pair of Sospenders or similar http://www.sospenders.com/product/8030381.html just in case...

I've heard that a bluefish will eat my fingers clear off if I try to unhook it...and with such little experience, I'm staying as far away from those as humanly possible.

So back to the nets. I should just use basic common sense here...right? didnt know if there was a difference in materials or shape of opening...etc.

Fishing off the rocks is a challenge (pretty dangerous at night too). I have never fallen in but have had some CLOSE calls. I also have thought about a net in that situation. Basically I was thinking of a net cauz there wasn't a place to land the fish. Anyone else ever think of a long type net?

My old fishing partner used a regular net on a pole. I guess that's what I'll go for...
